Hi friends and family, thank you so much again for your continuous support and prayers. It is crazy to think that I am now two months into my ten month apprenticeship! I am so excited to tell you guys about this month, I feel like God just showed up so much this month in my life and it was just so cool.
Thursday Night Fellowship
We have been in the middle of an amazing sermon series on how Jesus came to bring life to the full (John 10:10). We had a sermon on Mary and Martha, where Sarah, one of our senior pastors talked about the idea that for Jesus just resting in his presence and goodness, is what he calls us to do. That he told Martha there are many things the world will try to use to pull us away. Ultimately only one thing is needed, it got me thinking of the song, Your The Only One by Chris Renzema which talks about similar ideas!

Fall Camp with my Gals
The above photo is of my core at Fall Camp, this is an overnight camp that each different campus goes to at Mt Lebanon Camp in Cedar Hill. It is so fun! At our camp we talked about the impact of reading scripture and community in peoples lives. We had different students share some of their testimonies involving community and scripture. I was really impacted hearing the way students in our community interacted with scripture. One student Colby shared this verse Proverbs 8:35- 36, For those who find me find life and receive favor from the Lord. But those who fail to find me harm themselves; all who hate me love death.” I just think this really struck me as we are talking about life to the full this year, and the life I have found with knowing Jesus.
My Classes
Classes have been so fun! I have learned so much more than I could have ever imagined. We just finished reading all the way through 2nd Kings. I have definitely a better grasp on the Old Testament than I use to, but with that comes even more questions. My teachers are doing great at giving us so much opportunity to ask our questions and think through really big topics. I am currently think through the topic and idea of was Jesus always the plan for redeeming God's creation? What do you guys think about that? I have also been wrestling in class with the idea that our professor from Regent College in Canada Iain brought up, which is you can be both biblical and wrong. Overall lots of good information, but definitely lots to think through. As you can see from the pictures, the coffee and the snacks are an essential to being a successful bible student!
Student Highlight
Prayer Requests
- A student at UTA was recently found dead (not in our ministry, just a student at the campus), and the causes are undetermined. It is thought to be related to mental illness. So if you could be praying for all of the students who are struggling with mental illnesses, and the ones that are just feeling lonely currently
- If you could be praying for our staff team to be able to rest well following fall camp
- If you could be praying for my core to be able to develop friendships with one another, and within our ministry
Can’t tell if my comment went through so I’ll send it again.
ReplyDeleteWe’re proud of all you’re doing and happy that things are going well for you.
I agree with your thought that Jesus was definitely always a part of God’s creation plan.
